OTOMI EMBROIDERY PROCESS
1. Artisans cut the Mexican “Manta” (an environmentally friendly and non-toxic cotton) in a special size depending on the project that is going to be embroidered.
2. A Tenango drawer hand trace using a pencil. Stencils are definitely not allowed, and the quality of the drawing will directly affect the final outcome of the embroidered piece
3. The piece is embroidered using a "blind stich" technique, where the thread is kept on the front of the fabric and not looped all the way to the back.
